About me
Heather Diane Lauvia✨ /

welcome to my
MAGNVM OPVS✨
I am an artist, scholar, researcher, and translator born and raised in South Brooklyn, NYC and I am so honored to be recognized as the first person in history to translate important works by Etteilla, Mage Edmond and others into English.
I am dedicated to translating and exploring significant occult works and to reviving old divination systems by prominent French figures throughout history. This requires me to have a proficiency in 18th- and 19th-century French rather than the modern language — a period with different verb endings, sentence structures, and more archaic idioms, where many words and phrases carried meanings distinct from how they're used in French today. It's a skill I've developed through years of direct engagement with these texts. My goal is to make these works accessible to English-speaking audiences and to illuminate their enduring influence on contemporary ideas.
I am also a designer with an esoteric fashion and accessory line. I am passionate about antique tarot, cartomancy, and divination, I have an extensive antique book and card collection, and I read cards professionally for clients all over the world using old divination systems that have long been forgotten.
My grandparents each came from a different country and met in Brooklyn so my family has been in NYC for many generations. I grew up in a very esoteric household and was taught to read cards at a very young age. A large portion of my card collection was inherited or gifted to me so it's extra special.
I started Magnvm Opvs to have a place where I can share all of my research, art, books, fashion design, and everything else that I love with all of you.✨
