"Etteilla", the pseudonym of Jean-Baptiste Alliette (1 March 1738 – 12 December 1791), was a French occultist who made a significant contribution to the esoteric development of the tarot.

This groundbreaking collection presents three of Etteilla's works translated for the first time ever into English offering readers unprecedented access to his thoughts on alchemy and Hermetic philosophy.

• The Seven Nuances of the Hermetic-Philosophical Work - A practical guide through the seven stages of the Alchemical Great Work along with Etteilla's complete book catalog and price list for his professional services. Also includes philosophical axioms, some of Etteilla's observations on Freemasonry and mention of an Unknown Philosopher (but not Louis Claude de Saint-Martin).

• A Treatise on the Perfection of Metals put under the Subtitle L.D.D.P. - A republication of 2 chapters from Johann Rudolf Glauber's 1674 work on metallic transmutation, shared by Etteilla in order to make this important alchemical text more accessible.

• An Aperçu from a Rigorist on Cartonomancy and On Its Author - Written by Etteilla's skeptical student, this account documents a personal experience with Etteilla's teachings and with the accuracy of his readings.
